The internet is a network of connected computers capable of swapping data in little packages. The internet was created by the US government as a means of communications in fear of Soviet Russia missle attacks. After the war the need for it to the government died out and universities asked if they could use it to exchange data and ideas with each other. Eventually it became common use to everyone allowing access to information that they may need at any time to their disposal. Although the internet is full of fun things and information it is also a way to get attacked by viruses sent by other people through information or emails. The internet these days is used by everyone for research to gaming to Surveillance. The internet is a great thing but if we were to lose internet in this age it would mean mass chaos shutting down systems and operations all around the world making everyone who uses it suseptible to attacks from rival countries wether it be by virus or whatever means people can think of.The picture in top left corner is a diagram of what the internet looks like.
